Official position about pin header type & SPI I/F

Postby regina » Thu Nov 22, 2007 10:50 pm

1. About pin header type
WIZnet understands some potential entries feel so difficult. Because 2mm pin header type is very rare in some areas.
However, during this contest period, we don’t have any plan to deal through making new version module as 2.54 pin header type.
If someone feels difficult at direct using due to 2mm type WIZ810MJ, they can apply some roundabout methods such as jump-line linking, another extension board.

2. About SPI I/F
There is no problem in direct or indirect I/F using.
Merely, for now, there are some hitches in using SPI I/F.
In order to use SPI I/F, additional circuit diagram is necessary.
WIZnet has already made it to meet market needs. Now WIZnet R&D part is verifying it.
On Nov 30, WIZnet will release this completed circuit diagram officially through Circuit Cellar e-forum and newsletter.

[Official Announce] about SPI I/F trouble issue

Postby regina » Fri Nov 30, 2007 9:34 am

[Official Announce about W5100(or WIZ810MJ) SPI I/F trouble issue]

* Analyze the cause of failure
When you try to use W5100(or WIZ810MJ) in SPI mode,
even if the /SCS is High, W5100(or WIZ810MJ) drives the MISO.

Therefore, this signal conflict other SPI device's MISO.

* Solution
When you try to access another SPI device, you should set ‘SPI_EN’ into ‘Low’.

You can use an inverter like below image.
Or, you can control ‘SPI_EN’ through I/O port of MCU.

being that i have made boards already, and will have to scrap them. i need to make the new modifications for this change. can you tell me if this is Wiznets temporary fix, or will you be fixing the die and releasing a new rev of the chip ?
