SPI on W5100

Postby bzijlstra » Fri Oct 05, 2007 9:55 am

Hello from Holland

Have worked with Wiznet modules before. If I see the development board Fred Eady has made for the W5100 I see he did that with the W5100 memory mapped. I like to use the W5100 only with SPI. Which lines do I have to use on the WIZ810MJ module and will the TX-speed be the same?

SPI Included..

Hi, Ben
SPI is part of my WIZNET demo board. Just move the SPI jumper and apply the appropriate commands.

As for speed, recall the Microchip ENC29J60, which also uses SPI as its communications conduit. The part can only move data as fast as the SPI portal can process it.

Hope that helps,
Fred

to use the WIZ810MJ in SPI mode all you need is the following pins

Power, gnd, clk, mosi, miso, cs & int.

you will also need to tie SPI_EN high.

thats is.

Thanks

To get started I have to design a PCB and this was exact the information I needed.

There is a pin /CS and /SCS, if using only SPI, which one should be used?

/SCS should be used when using SPI.

Tie /CS, /RD & /WR high

Thanks all

Got my board up and running. Bascom-AVR does the trick. More info can be found on my homepage.

memory mapping + SPI

Postby akqureshi » Mon Jan 26, 2009 2:51 am

hello,

for SPI you has to use four pins only. power and ground are necessary.
four pins are sclk, MISO, MOSI, /SCS.

sclk= SLAVE clock
MISO = master in slave out
MOSI = master out slave in
/SCS = slave contrlol signal (frame synchronization)

i have a problem, i want to use memory mapping of wiznet W5100 with EVM320C6424. can you or anyone tell me the procedure...
if you propose a document that is also good.
